HELP Keep Connecticut’s
Children Lead Safe

According to Connecticut’s 2004 Public Health Surveillance Report, childhood lead poisoning is the most common environmental health problem that affects young children, yet, it is entirely preventable. Blood lead levels as low as 10 µg/dL (i.e., micrograms per deciliter of blood) have been shown to affect a child’s learning and behavior and very high blood lead levels, can cause seizures, coma, and even death.

Elevated blood lead levels impact our most vulnerable population, our children, at a time when their developing bodies are most susceptible to damage.  The Centers for Disease Control reports that every year, approximately 310,000 children across the United States are lead poisoned.

Do your part by preventing children’s exposure to lead hazards among your family and your community.

HELP make lead poisoning history! Keep our children lead safe and lead free!
